NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has said the alliance will hold formal talks with Russia following a summit in Warsaw later this week.

The NATO-Russia Council held a meeting in April after a break of nearly two years that followed the developments in Ukraine.

He is quoted as saying the alliance "is working with Russia to hold another meeting."

In Warsaw, NATO members are expected to formalize plans to beef up its eastern flank in response to what some of them describe as a potential threat from Russia.

Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Alexey Meshkov, quoted by TASS, has said Moscow "does not rule out" the possiblity to hold another meeting.
