Bulgaria's highest-ranking tennis player Grigor Dimitrov on Monday secured his first victory since the end of April at the Wimbledon tournament, defeating Bjorn Fratangelo (US).

The game lasted 89 minutes, ending 6:3, 6:4, 6:2. Fratangelo, the world's No. 112 according to the ATP ranking (as of Monday), made no single breakthrough against Dimitrov.

Monday's victory put an end to a series of losses Dimitrov had been suffering since the defeat by Diego Schwartzman (Argentina) at the ATP Istanbul final early in May.

Last year, Dimitrov reached the third round of the tournament, while in 2014 he had made it to Wimbledon's semifinals.

In the next round, he will face either Janko Tipsarevi? (Serbia) or Gilles Simon (France).

Dimitrov lost several spots in the ATP ranking in May and June, but climbed two positions up in Monday's ranking, reaching the 37th place.

Meanwhile, Bulgaria's highest-ranking female tennis player Tsvetana Pironkova is to start at Wimbledon on Tuesday, facing Belinda Bencic (Switzerland).
