Culture | June 22, 2016, Wednesday // 08:39|  views

Musicians and DJs from the region and beyond, documentaries, lectures and workshops - these are the highlights of Zenith Fusion Festival which begins on Friday in the Rhodope village of Dolen, in Blagoevgrad region.

"Zenith is a boutique festival that showcases an anthology of Bulgaria’s beauty. Zenith simply makes use of what is already locally present: nature, heritage, culture. The festival supports initiatives that successfully create contemporary relevant ways for tradition to survive and regenerate," the organizers say.

Workshops and lectures will help introduce the public to life in the village, and life music will be performed on the amphiteatrical stage built last year and modelled after drawings of Leonardo Da Vinci.

The musical program will feature Turkish virtuoso darbuka player M?s?rl? Ahmet, Serbian traditional singer Svetlana Spaji?, legendary accordionist Petar Ralchev, and Bulgarian bands such as Merudia, Oratniza and Kottarashky & The Rain Dogs. DJs from Belgium, the Netherlands, and Mexico will also be part of the festival.

The village of Dolen, known for its picturesque houses and streets, already hosted the Transfiguration festival last summer.

Tickets for all three days of the festival will cost BGN 75 (and are available via TicketLogic), which includes a free camping site and access to concerts.
