Bulgaria’s Labour Productivity Rises 2.9% Y/Y in Q1 2016

Bulgaria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per person employed increased by 2.1% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2016, the national statistical office NSI has announced.

There were 3.36 million people employed in the economy in the first quarter of 2016 who worked a total of 1.36 billion hours, the NSI has said citing preliminary data.

An employed person generated BGN 5,513 of GDP at current prices, creating an average of BGN 13.6 in GDP per hour worked.

The average Gross Value Added (GVA) per person employed increased by 2.9% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2016. GVA per hour worked increased by 2.8%

The average labour productivity per person employed in industry was BGN 5,445 of GVA. Labour productivity per hour worked was BGN 12.8.

In the services sector, the average labour productivity per person employed was BGN 4,930 in the first quarter of 2016. Labour productivity per hour worked was BGN 11.4.

In agriculture, labour productivity per person employed was BGN 766 of GVA. Labour productivity per hour worked was BGN 2.5.
