Two suspects have reportedly been detained in connection with the robbery of the central post office in the Bulgarian city of Haskovo on Wednesday.

A total of BGN 1.8 M, which were meant to be paid out as pensions, were reportedly stolen in the robbery.

The robbers cut a fence at the back of the post office, broke the lock and entered into the building through the staff entrance.

They tied the security guard on duty, put a mask on his head and poured him with bleach. The robbers also cut off the electricity supply and dismantled the security cameras.

They poured bleach over the floor and spread hairs which they had most likely taken from hairdressers to conceal any traces.

Bulgarian Posts assured that the stolen money had been insured so this will not cost anything to the Bulgarian taxpayer.

The security guard and other employees will be interrogated and will undergo polygraph test as there are suspicions that an insider helped the thieves.
