Germany's President Not Willing to Serve 2nd Term

German President Joachim Gauck has said he will refrain from seeking a second term in office, German daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reports.

Gauck's term expires next year. His annoucement follow speculation he is not willing to run.

He has made the announcement at a press briefing.

Deutsche Welle quotes him as saying it as not "easy" to take the decision, but he does not want to commit himself "for another period of five years to levels of energy and vitality that [he] cannot guarantee.
