All leading markets are registering increase in the number of early bookings made by people wishing to spend their holiday in Bulgaria during the forthcoming summer.
This was stated by Bulgarian Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova during a discussion entitled “Competitiveness of Bulgarian tourism” which took place in Varna on Thursday.
Angelkova added that she expects the trend for the increase in the number of early bookings to be sustained until the end of the season.
According to her, the greatest challenge lies in retaining the high quality of the product offered so that all tourists that are going to visit Bulgaria this year would return next year.
According to her, the efforts made by the tourism and transport ministries in the beginning of the year to attract tourists have started to yield results.
The minister assured that authorities are continuing to work on solving any arising problems. Starting from June 1, the authorities will monitor the level of noise in resorts.
Angelkova is pursuing an active dialogue with all concessionaires to find a formula which would lead to drastic drop in the prices of parasols and sunloungers on beaches.
She added that work has also begun on the 2017 summer season.
There will be heightened police presence in the Black Sea resorts this summer due to the terrorist threat in Europe and the expected rise in the number of tourists visiting Bulgaria.
The interior ministry and hoteliers are holding trainings for evacuation of visitors. The tourist sector has been instructed to be more vigilant and pay more attention to the suspicious behaviour of tourists.
The interior ministry and the State Agency for National Security (DANS) will receive tourist information from hotels in real time through a system which is expected to improve security at resorts.
As regards the expected increase in the number of Russian tourists, more charter flights to Varna and Burgas have been arranged and measures have been taken to issue visas to Russian tourists within 48 hours.
The tourism ministry has transferred BGN 331 000 to the foreign ministry for the swift issue of visas.
