Bulgaria’s Economy Minister Presents Investment Opportunities to City of London Corporation

Bulgaria’s Economy Minister Bozhidar Lukarski presented investment opportunities in the country to potential investors from the City of London as part of a visit to the UK, the ministry said on Monday. 

"A priority for the Bulgarian government is to maintain economic and financial stability and take proactive measures to achieve sustainable economic growth,” Lukarski said at a meeting with Jeremy Browne, Special Representative for the City of London Corporation, the Economy Ministry said in a statement.

Lukarski said that the Bulgarian government looks at the high-tech industries creating high added value as priority areas for investment.

These include electronics manufacturing, information technology, outsourcing, chemical and pharmaceutical industry, machine building, transport and logistics, food industry, agriculture and healthcare, Lukarski said at the meeting with the special representative for the the City's governing body.

The Economy Ministry is working on amendments to the Investment Promotion Law with the aim to provide individual packages of investment incentives that meet the specific needs of each investor, Lukarski said, according to the statement.

He highlighted the crucial role of industrial zones being developed by Bulgaria as well as the Sofia Tech Park, the country’s first science and technology park created with the aim of becoming a catalyst for innovative technological solutions.

In addition, the Executive Director of the government’s investment promotion agency InvestBulgaria, Stamen Yanev, presented concrete investment opportunities for British companies in Bulgaria, according to the statement.
