Bulgaria has bolstered security at both external and internal borders of the EU, the Interior Ministry's Chief Secretary Georgi Kostov has said.

Kostov has told the Bulgarian National Television that "100% border control" is currently being implemented in relation to the attacks that killed at least 31 people in Brussels on Tuesday.

External borders include those with Turkey, Macedonia, and Serbia, while the internal ones are those with Romania and Greece.

Kostov has added that law enforcement and security institutions met as early as Tuesday private security agencies working with public events to discuss possible new measures.

Separately, an anti-terror training was conducted in Bulgaria's capital Sofia late on Tuesday, with authorities assuring it had been planned beforehand but coincided with the attacks in Brussels.
