Death Toll in Ankara Suicide Car Bombing Rises to 34

At least 34 people were killed and another 125 wounded after a suicide car bombing took place in central Ankara on Sunday.

Thirty people were killed on the site of the attack, four other died on their way to hospital, with one or two of them believed to be the attackers.

The injured people were transported to ten different hospitals in Ankara, with nineteen of them in critical condition, Hurriyet Daily informs.

Turkish Interior Minister Efkan Ala said there will be clear announcement about the attackers on Monday.

The attack occurred in the vicinity of ten bus stops, with the area evacuated as a precaution against a second attack.

Turkish President Recep Erdogan condemned the attack, saying Turkey has become target of terrorist attacks due to instabilities in the region.

Erdogan assured that Turkey is determined to continue its fight against terrorism.

This is the third large-scale terrorist attack in the Turkish capital since October last year.

At least 103 people were killed when two suicide bombers targeted the participants in a peace rally near the central railway station on 10 October 2015.

A suicide car bomb targeting military shuttles waiting at a traffic light in central Ankara claimed the lives of at least 29 people and injured 81 other on February 17 this year.
