Bulgaria's Imports from Third Countries Decreased in January

Exports of Bulgaria with third countries grew in January 2016 compared to the same month of 2015, while imports dropped in value, preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute shows.

Exports increased by 6.3% amounting to BGN 1.164 B. Turkey, China, Egypt, Macedonia, Serbia, the United States, and Russia were the main export partners, accounting for 56.1% of exports to non-EU states.

Imports decreased by 17.8% amounting to BGN 1.164 B, adding up to BGN 1.203 B at CIF Prices. Russia, Turkey, China and Ukraine topped the list of importers.

Bulgaria recorded a negative foreign trade balance with third countries in the same month of 2016, adding up to BGN 39.1 M (export FOB-import CIF). The balance was positive at FOB-FOB prices, amounting to BGN 39.7 M.

The FOB-FOB calculation is made after elimination of transport and insurance costs on imports.

The largest growth in exports with third countries were reported in "Miscellaneous manufactured articles" (166.6%) and Animals and vegetable oils, fats and waxes" (54.7%), while the most notable fall was registered in "Food and live animals" (27.5%).

In imports, the largest growth was recorded in "Animals and vegetable oils, fats and waxes" (23.1%) AND "Miscellaneous manufactured articles" (20.3%), while the most notable fall was in "Crude materials, inedible (except fuel)" at 64.7%.

All exported goods (to EU and non-EU countries) from Bulgaria were worth BGN 3.424 B in January, a 1% increase compared to the same month of 2015. The value of all imports was BGN 3.464 B at CIF prices, or by 8.3% less compared to January of last year.
