Bulgarian Journalists Injured by Artillery Fire in Syria – TASS

A group of 33 journalists, including Bulgarian nationals, came under artillery fire near the border town of Kensaba in the northern Syrian province of Latakia on Tuesday.

TASS news agency informs that the group consisted of 33 journalists, among whom Bulgarian, Russian, Greek, German, US, Chinese and Canadian nationals.

Among those suffering light bruises were journalists from Bulgaria, China and Canada.

The injured received first aid and were accompanied back to town by servicemen from the Russian air group in Syria.

According to the Russian defence ministry spokesperson, Igor Konashenkov, the shells were fired from the Turkish border, the area of Dama, near the Syrian town of Idlib.

In his words, eight artillery shells were fired, which crashed at distances ranging between 150 and 400 metres away from the journalists.

The Syrian army blamed the attack on the al-Nusra Front, to which the truce does not apply.

Since the entry into force of the truce on Saturday, occassional violations of the ceasefire have been reported.
