The highest ranking Bulgarian male tennis player Grigor Dimitrov concluded his participation at the Abierto Mexicano Telcel tournament in Acapulco.

In a match from the quarterfinals, Dimitrov suffered a defeat to Dominic Thiem from Austria with 5:7, 2:6.

Thiem held the initiative throughout the match and deservedly claimed the final victory in their first encounter.

The match did not start well for Dimitrov who suffered a break in the opening game and lost the next one.

However the Bulgarian managed to recover, returned a break and equalized the score for 2:2.

This was followed by exchange of service games before Dimitrov conceded another break in the eleventh game and went on to lose the first set.

The second set started similarly, with Thiem achieving a break early on.

This time the Bulgarian did not return the break and after suffering another one in the seventh game went on to lose the match.
