The highest ranking Bulgarian male tennis player Grigor Dimitrov proceeded to the second round of the tournament in Acapulco.

In a match from the first round, Dimitrov defeated Denis Kudla from the USA with 7:5, 6:1.

This was the second encounter between the opponents, with the Bulgarian having lost the first one.

Dimitrov did not start the match well, conceding a break in the opening game, but then recovered and held the initiative until the end.

In the second round, the Bulgarian will face Donald Young from the USA.
