Telegraph: Borovets Is Europe's 'Booziest Ski Resort'

Borovets, in Bulgaria's Rila Mountain, is the ski resort with the most bars per square kilometer, a survey by tour operator Crystal Ski, cited by The Telegraph, shows.

"The French may have coined the term apr?s but it is the Bulgarians that have taken the crown. The ultimate apr?s resort, based on Crystal’s research, is Borovets in Bulgaria with approximately four bars per sq km and pints of beer costing little more than ?1 during happy hour," the daily writes.

A representative from Borovets tourism office is quoted as saying that the resort also combines "perfect skiing conditions with daily visits to rich cultural and historic sites, unique local cuisine and unrivalled hospitality."

The Bulgarian resort overtakes on renowned ski destinations in France, Italy, and Andorra.

"Have you heard of Borovets?" - these are the words that mark the beginning of the few paragraphs dedicated to the Bulgarian ski resort, located at 1300 meters with its slopes rising to 2550 m. Apart from good conditions for skiing, it is noted for "local folklore evenings" and the possibility to travel to either the capital Sofia or the Rila Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Center.

Sofia, on the other hand, ranks seventh among Europe's cheapest cities for beer, after Krakow (Poland), Kiev (Ukraine), Bratislava (Slovakia), Malaga (Spain), Belgrade (Serbia), and Warsaw (Poland).
