Six soldiers have been killed and a soldier was heavily wounded in an attack by suspected fighters of Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PPK) in Turkey’s province of Diyarbakir on Thursday.

A roadside bomb “previously installed by the PKK" exploded when a convoy of military vehicles was passing by on the Diyarbak?r-Lice highway, Turkish daily Hurriyet reported in its online English-language edition.

The attack comes less than a day after a car bomb explosion in Turkey’s capital Ankara killed 28 people and left wounded another 61.

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has blamed the bombing on PKK, which is outlawed in Turkey, and people linked to the "Kurdish militia" in Syria.
