Bulgarian Households’ Income Rises, Spending Dips in Q4’2015

The average income per member of Bulgarian households rose by 2.9% on the year for the fourth quarter of 2015, reaching BGN 1,262 (EUR 645), according to official data released on Tuesday.

The average spending per household member edged down by 0.7% year-on-year, reaching BGN 1,162 (EUR 594) for October-December period of 2015, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a quarterly report on households' income and expenditure.

Wages accounted for 55.2% of Bulgarian households’ income during the fourth quarter of 2015, followed by pensions (25.9%), self-employment (7.0%), and social benefits (3.8%).

Food absorbed nearly a third of Bulgarian households' expenditure in the last quarter of 2015, followed by housing (16.7%) and transport and communication (11.2%), the NSI said.
