Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and his Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orban will discuss issues of the bilateral, but also of the "European agenda" during Orban's visit to Sofia, the cabinet has announced.

Orban is to visit Sofia on Thursday and Friday, after initial media reports had suggested he would arrive a day earlier.

The meeting will begin at the Council of Ministers' building in central Sofia on Friday morning. It comes just a week after Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto was also in the Bulgarian capital to discuss trade and policies on migrants.

Earlier in January, Orban announced the EU needed to consider assigning more border protection responsibilities to Bulgaria and Macedonia if their southern neighbor Greece failed to curb the influx of migrants as it had promised.

Also in January, Borisov called on the EU to temporary seal off its borders to new arrivals.

Orban for his part has been a staunch opponent of relocation plan and of the "welcome" policies the union has been applying to migrants over the past years and especially during the peak of the migrant crisis last year.
