Several passengers have been injured in a crash involving two intercity buses and a minibus near the village of Kamburovo in northeastern Bulgaria, on the main road linking Sofa and Varna, Nova TV and bTV reported on Friday.

No fatalities have been reported. A total of 41 passengers travelled in the two buses, according to Nova TV.

A bus owned by Union Ivkoni company travelled from Sofia to Varna when it collided with a bus of Biomet company coming from the opposite direction shortly before 3 p.m. local time on Friday.

Five people have been injured in the accident, according to bTV. They were taken to hospitals in Targovishte city.

The driver of Biomet’s bus and a female passenger were among those who had sustained heavier injuries.

Initial reports differ as to the role of the minibus in the crash, Nova TV said.

According to Union Ivkoni, the minibus had tried to overtake the Biomet bus when it collided head-on with their bus. Biomet, however, say that it was Union Ivkoni’s bus which had tried to overtake the minibus but lacked enough speed and hit the Biomet’s bus coming in the opposite lane.
