Bulgaria's Opposition Socialists, DPS Discuss Potential No-Confidence Motion

Bulgaria’s opposition Socialists have held consultations with the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) over a potential motion of no-confidence in the minority coalition government led by Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, a leading DPS official has said.

The consultations were held on the initiative of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), DPS co-chair Chetin Kazak told public broadcaster BNR on Sunday.

At the consultations, BSP and DPS discussed submitting a possible motion of no confidence over the government’s healthcare and demographic policies as well as its record in law enforcement and the fight against crime, Kazak said.

The two parties, which hold among themselves 68 of the Parliament’s 240 seats, will hold a new round of consultations early next week to decide whether to seek a vote of no confidence and what its specific subject should be.
