According to Turkish President Recep Erdogan, the explosion which occurred in a popular tourist area of central Istanbul on Tuesday morning was the work of a Syrian suicide bomber.
In a statement on Tuesday, Erdogan condemned the attack, Hurriyet Daily quotes him as saying.
The explosion occurred in the touristic neighbourhood of Sultanahmet in Istanbul, just metres away from the city's main tourist attractions, killing at least ten and wounding another fifteen people.
According to N24, a German news network, nine of the ten people who were killed in the attack are Germans.
Anadolu Agency stated that among the injured in the explosion are six Germans, one Norwegian, one Peruvian and one South Korean, whose condition is less serious.
The Bulgarian foreign ministry has no information on any Bulgarians injured or killed in the explosion.
The Bulgarian consul in Turkey has already arrived on the place where the attack occurred and is in close contact with Turkish authorities investigating the explosion.
