Swedish authorities have evacuated part of Stockholm-Skavsta Airport after suspected traces of an explosive substance were found on a passenger’s bag during flight check-in on Sunday.
A Stockholm-Skavsta Airport manager told Reuters that a bomb disposal squad had arrived to investigate.
The evacuation on Sunday morning affected departures but not inbound flights.
The luggage belonged to an elderly woman who told police she had no idea how the traces of suspected explosive substance could have gotten on her bag, according to Swedish daily newspaper Aftonbladet.
The airport in the city of Nykoping is some 100 km southwest of Stockholm is mainly used by low cost airlines and serves around 2.5 million passengers a year.
