Bulgaria Appoints Werner Jostmeier Honorary Consul in Germany

Bulgaria’s government has appointed Werner Jostmeier as the country’s Honorary Consul in Germany with consular district the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Werner Jostmeier is member of the provincial parliament (Landtag) of North Rhine-Westphalia. He will be headquartered in M?nster.

His appointment is important for Bulgaria because North Rhine-Westphalia is the largest German federal state by population (over 17.6 million), the cities of Cologne, D?sseldorf and Dortmund are located there, and it produces over one-fifth of Germany’s GDP, the Bulgarian cabinet said in a statement following its weekly meeting on Wednesday.

Moreover, nearly 22% of the 183,263 Bulgarian citizens registered as residing in Germany last year were registered in North Rhine-Westphalia, the cabinet said citing German statistical data.
