Bulgarian Foreign Minister has told Macedonian Deputy PM Fatmir Besimi his country hopes to find the right formula of a neighborhood agreement with Skopje.

After receiving Besimi in Sofia, he has noted discussions on the agreement have brought about "positive" messages.

Mitov has stressed that Bulgaria's position on relatins with Macedonia is clear: "full support for the Euro-Atlantic path of Macedonia and for reform in the country. We strongly hope the commitments reached in talks between opposition and the government... will be complied with," Focus News Agency quotes him as saying.

"We are looking at Bulgaria as an exceptionally important partner and friend of our Euro-Atlantic integration," Macedonian daily Telegraf.mk reports Besimi as saying for his part.

Regional cooperation was also on the agenda of the meeting.

Sofia and Skopje are yet to finish the draft of a neighborhood agreement. The process has been in limbo for years, with the two countries failing to agree on technical details.

Besimi has also met Bulgarian counterpart, Deputy PM Meglena Kuneva, with the two discussing Macedonia's European perspective and political will in Skopje to fulfill the EU membership criteria.
