Balkan Christmas Festival Takes Place in Downtown Sofia on December 17-23

The Balkan Christmas festival Sofia Mezi will take place in the centre of the Bulgarian capital between December 17 and 23.

The festival will be held in the space between the Vasil Levski National Stadium and the underground station bearing the same name.

The space will be occupied by 25 Christmas houses, culinary stands and a large concert tent, which will house diverse music programme including folklore ensembles, rock bands, Goran Bregovic tribute and a Greek night.

Representatives of the most famous trade marks on the Bulgarian market will offer various delicious meals, specialties, beverages, 100 litres of free beer, desserts, Christmas souvenirs.

The food and beverages will be accompanied by entertaining games, gifts, exhibition of ice sculptures, dance workshops and mulled wine.

The culminaton of each of the festival days will be the two-hour concerts featuring popular Bulgarian artists.

The admission to all concerts, which start at 20:00 EET, as well as all other events is free.

The festival will be officially unveiled at 12:15 EET on Thursday by Sofia Mayor Yordanka  Fandakova.

This is the second edition of the festival, the first one having taken place over four days in September when it attracted more than 50 000 visitors.

The autumn edition, which was held in Sofia's North Park, was dedicated to Balkan cuisine and culture.
