The Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) of Radan Kanev are meeting on Saturday to decide whether or not to remain in the government.

Kanev, whose DSB party is part of junior coalition ally Reformist Bloc (RB), is also to discuss the possibility of "withdrawing" its Health Minister Petar Moskov from the cabinet.

This follows the resignation on Hristo Ivanov as Justice Minister after Parliament amended his proposals for judicial reform, with Ivanov alleging lawmakers had failed to reduce the prosecuting authority's excessive influence over the system and state affairs.

Kanev subsequently announced he was withdrawing his support for the government of PM Boyko Borisov, turning into an opposition lawmaker.

On Friday he told public broadcaster BNT his party would discuss futher steps at a congress.

DSB is a core member of the RB, a loose coalition of parties where it is occasionally fighting with two rival entities for a bigger role in decisionmaking.

Separately, the RB, which distanced itself from Kanev's move, said it would come up with a common stand on Tuesday.
