Overnight Stays in Bulgarian Hotels Rise 3.7% Y/Y in October

The number of overnight stays in Bulgarian hotels and other accommodation facilities rose by 3.7% on the year in October, reaching 727,800, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on Thursday.

In October, 71.1% of all overnight stays offoreign citizens and 31.6% of all overnights spent by Bulgarian citizens were registered infour- and five-star hotels.

A total of 2,020 hotels, motels, camping sites and other places for short-term accommodation with more than 10 beds each operated in Bulgaria in October. Those facilities offered 150,400 beds in 71,600 rooms, the NSI said in a monthly report.

Compared with October 2014, the number of operating accommodation facilities in Bulgaria has increased by 4.4% and the number of beds on offer has risen by 4.8%.

The total revenue from overnight stays increased by 4.2% year-on-year in October, reaching BGN 36 M.

The revenue from overnight stays of Bulgarian citizens increased by 6.2%, while the revenue from overnight stays of guests from foreign countries rose by 2.2%.
