Bulgaria advised on Tuesday its citizens travelling to Belgium or staying there to be vigilant regarding potential terrorist attacks.

“In view of recent events and the heightened degree of risk of terrorist act, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises Bulgarian citizens who plan to travel to Brussels or already stay in the country, to get informed regularly about the internal situation and exercise increased vigilance and caution,” the Foreign Ministry in Sofia said on its website.

Bulgarian citizens travelling to Belgium for a short visit are advised to register on the website of the ministry or provide contact information to the Bulgarian Embassy in Brussels.

A French security official said on Monday that intelligence officials had identified Abdelhamid Abaaoud, a Belgian Islamist of Moroccan descent, as the mastermind of the Paris attacks on November 13.

On Monday, Belgian police searched a house in the Molenbeek district of Brussels, in which Salah Abdeslam – the suspected driver of one group of Paris attackers on the night of November 13 – was believed to be hiding, but didn’t find him.
