Woman Dies as Powerful Quake Rocks Greece

A 6.1-magnitude earthquake has hit northwestern Greece, the country's seismological institute says.

Daily Kathimerini reports that a woman died after falling from a rock as a result of the quake.

The tremor, 23 km away from the Ionian Sea island of Lefkada was felt all across the country.

Its epicenter was 5 km beneath the surface, according to the Seismological Institute of Athens.

No victims or damage have been reported so far.
