The G20 countries need to to address the issue of terrorist financing and share information on suspected transactions to counter the threat of global terrorism, European Council President Donald Tusk said on Sunday.

“Only if we fully cooperate on the exchange of information about suspicious transactions, will we be able to stop this threat,” Tusk said at a news conference on the first day of a G-20 summit in the Turkish resort of Antalya, according to Anadolu Agency.

Tusk particularly stressed on the fact that terrorist networks cannot plan or operate without the money moving along financial channels in many countries.

Political leaders around the world have expressed solidarity with France in the wake of Friday’s terror attacks in Paris but “words are not enough”, Tusk said.

“Here at the G20 we have a special responsibility. There is no better forum in which to address terrorist financing," he said.
