EC Approves 4 New Promotion Programmes for Bulgarian Agri Products
EU | November 12, 2015, Thursday // 18:23| viewsThe European Commission has approved four Bulgarian programmes to promote several of the country’s agricultural products both inside and outside the EU.
Four Bulgarian beneficiaries stand to receive a total of EUR 5.53 M in EU co-finaincing over three years to promote fresh fruit and vegetables, wines and spirits produced by their members.
The beneficiaries are: the Bulgarian Association of Agricultural Producers (BAAP), the National Vine and Wine Chamber (NVWC), the Regional Vine and Wine Chamber South Coast Burgas and the Bulgarian National Horticultural Union (BNHU).
The four Bulgarian programmes are among 33 new programmes to promote EU agricultural products on the internal market and in third countries which were approved by the European Commission on Thursday, the EU executive body said in a news release.
The 33 programmes are worth EUR 108 M over the years, half of which comes from the EU budget. The programmes will contribute to opening up new markets and increasing the consumption of promoted products both on the EU internal market and third country markets.
EU Agriculture Commissioner Phil Hogan commented that in the context of the recent market difficulties “such programmes are important for establishing new market opportunities, in particular on non-EU markets, and thereby help stimulate growth and jobs in the agri-food sector."
