EU Interior Ministers to Meet Over Refugee Crisis
EU | November 9, 2015, Monday // 11:51| viewsInterior ministers of the EU member states will convene at a meeting of the Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) Council in Brussels on Monday to discuss the ongoing migrant crisis.
Taking into account the deterioration of the situation on the ground, the Council intends to strengthen and operationalise the Union's response, guarantee follow-up on and implementation of measures decided so far.
Ministers are expected to establish a further course of action to handle the current refugee and migration crisis by adopting a set of conclusions.
The conclusions will focus in particular on: speeding up of the ongoing relocation process; strengthening the external borders of the EU; fighting human trafficking and smuggling; return and readmission.
The meeting comes ahead of the forthcoming informal summit of Heads of State or Government on Thursday, which was convened by European Council President Donald Tusk.
