The Bulgarian men's national volleyball team climbed two positions in the latest ranking of the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) and currently occupies the third place.

Bulgaria's progress in the ranking is due to the fourth place claimed by the team at the men's volleyball European Championship, which took place in Bulgaria and Italy between October 9 and 18.

Russia and the bronze medalists from the European Championship, Italy, retained the top two places in the ranking.

The new European champion, France, retained its 7th place, while the surprising runner-up Slovenia made it in the top 10.

The first eight teams in the ranking will compete in the European Olympic Qualification tournament, which will take place in Berlin between 5-10 January 2016.

The winner of the tournament will qualify directly for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, while the second and third placed teams will have to go through a World Olympic Qualification tournament.

Bulgaria will face the teams of Germany, Poland and Belgium in Pool A of the European Olympic Qualification, while Pool B pits against each other the teams of Russia, Serbia, France and Finland.
