31-year-old Bulgarian Kaloyan Dragiev, wanted by Interpol, has been arrested at the request of the Stara Zagora District Prosecutor’s Office.

Dragiev was arrested in connection with a request of the US court authorities stating the charges on which he is sought and the laws he breached.

He was arrested on the basis of 2 valid detention orders, one of them issued on October 19, 2011 by a court of second instance in Whitfield County, Georgia, and the other one issued on February 29, 2012 by the Tennessee Eastern District Court.

Dragiev faces charges of, among other things, theft of personal data on 99 occasions, and bank fraud, and a maximum penalty of 30 years of imprisonment.

The US authorities say that they will seek the extradition of Dragiev, according to the mesia statement of Bulgaria’s prosecuting authority.

The Stara Zagora District Court has ordered temporary detention for up to 60 days for Dragiev prior to the extradition procedure.

The ruling of the Stara Zagora-based court is not final and may be appealed before the Plovdiv Appellate Court.
