Bulgarian state-owned military plant VMZ Sopot has a new CEO, Ivan Getsov, according to an announcement of Dimitar Atanasov, Chair of the Podkrepa Labor Confederation at the plant.

Apart from the new CEO, the Board of Directors of the Sopot-based plant was also reshuffled on Wednesday, with Todor Dichev and Iliyan Naskov leaving and Vladislav Totev becoming Chair of the BoD, according to reports of 24 Hours daily.

Atanasov pointed out that there were demands for the removal from office of Tsvetana Bodurova, the person in charge of managing the Iganovo-based site of the plant, which was stricken by an explosion in March.

The trade union representative underscored that the pledges that the Iganovo site would start functioning again at full capacity had not been fulfilled.

In early August Deputy Economy Minister Lyuben Petrov and the management of the representatives of trade unions at the plant agreed that an external audit would establish the situation of the plant.

At that point trade union representatives insisted that the plant was being pushed into bankruptcy.

However, the Economy Ministry assured that orders worth BGN 300 M had been secured for the plant.
