Representatives of the Austrian police investigating the death of the 71 migrants, who were found in an abandoned truck in the state of Burgenland last week, are expected to arrive in Bulgaria on Wednesday.

The number of people detained for the suspected trafficking of the migrants increased to seven on Tuesday after two new arrests.

One of the latest arrests was carried out in Bulgaria, but no Bulgarian authority has confirmed the information officially yet.

All of the arrests, except the one carried out in Bulgaria, occurred in Hungary.

A total of four Bulgarians and one Afghan citizen have been arrested, while the identities of the other two suspected traffickers has not been revealed yet.

Austrian authorities are expecting that the man, who was arrested in Bulgaria, will be extradited.

The detained Bulgarians, who have been charged with trafficking with the aim of obtaining financial gain in Hungary, are from Lom and Montana.

Authorities believe that the detained men are low-level members of one of the human trafficking gangs functioning in Europe.

Suffocation has been identified as the most likely cause of death of the 59 men, eight women and four children.
