The government nominated on Wednesday the Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) Dimitar Radev as Governor for Bulgaria in the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

With the same decision, the cabinet also nominated the Deputy Governor of BNB in charge of the Banking Supervision Department Dimitar Kostov as deputy governor for Bulgaria in the organisations from the World Bank Group (WBG) as well as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The WBG comprises five international organisations – the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), the International Development Association (IDA), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) and the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID).

The decision of the Council of Ministers is related to the recent personal and functional changes in the governance of BNB, the government's press service informs.

The government hopes that the nominations will ensure a representation of Bulgaria in the international financial institutions, which will champion the expansion and stabilisation of the country's international contacts and protection of its interests.
