Bulgaria's Thracian Exhibition in Louvre 'among Best for 2015'

The Epic of the Thracian Kings exhibition which was hosted by the Louvre in France is considered to be one of the best exhibitions for this year, a French magazine has said.

In an article whose title is loosely translated "Thracians: in Search of the Lost Kingdom", Jerome Coignard points out that the Louvre presented a "brilliant and enigmatic" civilization  which controlled the territories between the Greek world and the Persian empire. He

Shedding more light on Thracian culture, he notes that the exhibition showed for the first time "entire ensembles of archaeological artifacts which unveil the Thracian civilization and its historical importance".

The Bulgarian Ministry of Culture quotes the publication as saying that the French-Bulgarian cooperation in this area has "a centenary tradition".

The exhibition was on display in Paris between April 15 and July 20 and included some 1 628 artifacts. A life-size head of Thracian ruler Seuthes III, made of bronze with alabaster eyes (which are also covered with a layer of glass paste), was the central piece and has become something of a symbol for the artifacts.
