Singing Fountain Launched in Bulgaria's Varna

A musical fountain was inaugurated as Bulgaria's third-biggest city celebrated its official holiday on Saturday with a concert and a 3-D show.

With its 41 meters, the fountain's water column is by far the highest in Bulgaria.

The installation will perform eight different melodies for now and will change colors by using 2000 possible combinations.

On Saturday evening, 60 musicians from Varna's opera played to an audience eager the see the colored dancing columns.

Fireworks illuminated the night sky after the fountain burst into life, even though the spectacle was dedicated to the city celebrations, Mayor Ivan Portnih vowed the new attraction will offer a program of water, sound, and light every evening of this summer.

Separately, there was a concert at the Varna Summer Theater to mark the official celebrations of a city that is often dubbed "the Black Sea capital of Bulgaria".

August 15 is also the Dormition of the Holy Mother of God, one of the greatest holidays for Christians. the greatest Christian holidays).

Saturday's events were attended by Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and two of his ministers, Krasen Kralev (sports) and Ivaylo Moskovski (transport).
