Deflation Continues to Grow in Bulgaria in June

According to the latest figures of the National Statistical Institute (NSI), which were released on Tuesday, there was a monthly deflation of 0.9 % in June.

The inflation since the beginning of the year was negative 0.2 %, while the annual inflation stood at 0.4%.

In June, the following prices of goods and services recorded increase – alcohol drinks and tobacco products and restaurants and hotels.

Most goods and services registered decrease in their prices – food and soft drinks, clothing and shoes, household furniture and appliances, healthcare, transport, messages, entertainment and culture.

The prices of dwellings, utility bills and education remained the same in June.

The following food products had lower prices in June – bread, pork, cattle and poultry meat, mince, fish (fresh and frozen), eggs, milk and yoghurt, yellow cheese, margarine, fresh and frozen fruits (cherries and strawberries), cabbage, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, spring onion, garlic, leek, leaf vegetables, potatoes, beans, coffee, mineral water, fruit juices.

Flour, rice, pasta, sunflower oil, apples, citrus fruits, carrots, lentils, vinegar, salt, carbonated drinks had higher prices in June.

Among the non-food products, decrease was registered in the prices of clothing and shoes, repair and maintenance materials, gas, furniture, air-conditioners, TV sets, detergents, hygienic and cosmetic products, cinema and theatre tickets.

Refrigerators and freezers, washing liquid, boilers, car tyres, petrol, holiday services and tourist trips had higher prices in June.

Medicines and other pharmaceutical products were cheaper, the prices of medical services increased, while those of dental services retained their level from last month.
