Over half of Bulgarian voters are expected to cast ballots in the local elections in October, a survey conducted by Sofia-based Gallup International Balkan showed on Monday.

Forty-one percent of those polled said they would vote for mayors and municipal councilors on 25 October, while 17% said they were more likely to vote than staying away.

The results are within the scope of expectations, according to gallup-international.bg.

A total of 1,011 Bulgarian nationals were polled in the survey conducted between 26 June and 2 July. The maximum margin of error was three percent on either side.

Forty-one percent of the surveyed voters said they would like to see a comprehensive change in the way the municipality they live in is being run, while 34% said they would like to see a partial change. Eleven percent opined no change is needed and 14% were undecided.
