Euclid Tsakalotos is set to become Greece’s new finance minister following the resignation of Yanis Varoufakis, according to Greek media reports on Monday.

Tsakalotos, deputy minister for international economic relations, took over from Varoufakis as lead negotiator in Greece's bail-out talks with international creditors in April.

Varoufakis hinted on Monday that Tsakalotos could replace him, saying: "I hope so," when asked whether Tsakalotos would be the next Finance Minister.

"I am leaving and I will see you tomorrow with Mr. Tsakalotos," Varoufakis said as he left the finance ministry, according to Reuters.
