At least six people were killed and 19 were injured when a suicide car bomber targeted a NATO troop convoy in Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul, on Tuesday, the BBC reported.

The Defence Ministry in Sofia said that no Bulgarian troops had been injured in the attack.

The blast took place on the main road to the airport, close to the US embassy and the diplomatic quarter.

The Associated Press quoted a NATO spokesperson as saying that two US troops had suffered minor injuries as a result of the attack.

A Taliban spokesperson claimed responsibility for the blast in a text message to the AP.

Bulgaria has some 110 military personnel taking part in NATO-led Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan who are deployed in Kandahar and Kabul. They are tasked with guarding Kandahar airport and advising and assisting an Afghan army corps.
