Bulgaria's top male tennis player Grigor Dimitrov made a successful start to the defence of his Aegeon championship title at the Queen's Club in London.

Dimitrov achieved a comeback and defeated Sam Querrey from the USA with 6:4, 3:6, 4;6 in the first round of the tournament.

The match started on Monday, but was suspended after the end of the second set due to the fading light and was resumed on Tuesday, daily Dnevnik reports.

Following the renewal of play, Dimitrov demonstrated much better tennis, being calmER and dominating the court, with his serves more solid and his returns of higher quality.

The Bulgarian was faced with the prospect of an early end to his performance after losing the first set and going down 1:3 in the second one.

However Dimitrov won five consecutive games and equalised the set before the organisers decided to interrupt the match due to the descending darkness.

The third set, which was resumed on Tuesday, went game for a game with the two opponents earning their respective service games.

However at 4:4 Dimitrov achieved a decisive break and he went on to win the next service game and claimed the final victory.

In the second round, the Bulgarian will faceĀ Gilles Muller from Luxembourg, who defeated the Russian Mikhail Youzhny with 6:7, 6:4, 7:6.
