Bulgaria Defeats Convincingly Russia 3-0 at Women's Volleyball in Baku

The Bulgarian women's national volleyball team recorded on Monday a convincing victory in its second match at the European Games in Baku.

Bulgaria defeated Russia 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-22) and temporarily came on the top of Pool B with four points, daily Dnevnik reports.

The Bulgarians showed a very strong performance in the first set by recording nine consecutive points and establishing a comfortable lead, which they maintained throughout the set.

Emiliya Nikolova demonstrated excellent service skills in the second set, which helped Bulgaria make a comeback from being 11-16 down and win the second set.

Bulgaria established a comfortable lead in the third set and although Russia managed to shorten the distance, the Bulgarians claimed the set and the final victory.

Hristina Ruseva made an excellent performance for Bulgaria by recording 17 points and her teammate Elitsa Vasileva added 11 points.

Bulgaria lost its first match against Germany with 2-3 on Saturday and will next face the team of Serbia on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Bulgarian men's national volleyball team started its performance with a 3-2 victory over Belgium on Sunday and is next playing Italy on Tuesday.
