Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov will discuss bilateral relations with Macedonia and ways for resolving the political crisis there during a working visit to the neighbouring country on 14 and 15 June, the foreign ministry in Sofia has announced.

Mitov will meet with Macedonia’s President Gjorge Ivanov, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski and Foreign Minister Nikola Poposki.

He will also meet with with opposition leader Zoran Zaev and the leaders of the two main ethnic Albanian parties - Ali Ahmeti of DUI and Menduh Thaci of DPA, the ministry said in a statement.

The latest round of EU-brokered talks in Brussels between the four leaders on ways of resolving the months-long political crisis in Macedonia ended inconclusively earlier this week.

After the talks, the European Commission urged Macedonian political leaders “to find a lasting political compromise without any delay and come forward with concrete proposals to this end, building on the agreement already reached in Skopje on 2 June” to hold early elections by April 2106.

On 15 June Mitov will take part in a meeting of the foreign ministers of the countries of the Central European Initiative (CEI) in the city of Ohrid. The ministers will discuss progress in the European integration process, the interconnectivity at large and issues related to the security, stability and prosperity of the region.
