The parliamentary group of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) decides Wednesday on whether or not to exclude MP Georgi Kadiev.

Kadiev announced the measure on his Facebook profile after a meeting of the BSP group which ended late on Tuesday.

In an interview for Darik radio Kadiev specified that the meeting during which his membership was to be put to the vote had been scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

The proposal for the exclusion of Kadiev from the parliamentary group of BSP came after he tabled a bill proposing amendments to the Election Code that would allow electoral campaigning in a foreign language, provided that “simultaneous and accurate translation in Bulgarian has been provided.”

Several days ago BSP opposed the proposal of Kadiev and insisted that he withdraw it by Tuesday.

According to the articles of association of BSP, Kadiev’s ouster needs to be approved by 2/3 of all BSP MPs.
BSP has 39 MPs in Bulgaria’s 43rd National Assembly.

Kadiev suggested that he was convinced that the bill put forth by him was not the actual reason behind the move.

He said that it was unthinkable to exclude an MP over a bill they had submitted, adding that the piece of legislation he had put forth fought for human rights.
