Cabinet Proposes Former Foreign Minister as New Bulgarian Ambassador to Turkey

The government proposed the former Foreign Minister Nadezhda Neynsky to be appointed as the Bulgarian ambassador to Turkey.

The decision was taken at the regular meeting of the Council of Ministers, which took place on Wednesday, the government's press service informs.

The nomination will be forwarded to President Rosen Plevneliev, who has to issue a decree on her appointment.

With the same decision, the government is proposing to the president to dismiss Krasimir Tulechki, whose mandate has expired.

Neynsky herself confirmed several days ago that there have been discussions for her appointment as ambassador to Turkey, daily Sega reports.

She reminded that throughout the past years she had been part of Bulgarian foreign policy and was ready to further lend her expertise in championing the national interest of Bulgaria.

Neynsky served as Foreign Minister in the government of Prime Minister Ivan Kostov (1997-2001) and chaired the Union of Democratic Forces (SDS) between 2002 and 2005.

She was also MP in several National Assemblies, deputy chairperson of the National Assembly in 2008 and served as MEP between 2009 and 2014.
