Bulgaria's top male tennis player Grigor Dimitrov suffered a heavy defeat and was ousted in the first round of Roland Garros on Tuesday.

Dimitrov was defeated by Jack Sock from the USA with 6:7 (7), 2:6, 3:6, failing to achieve a break, daily Dnevnik reports.

The Bulgarian never completely recovered from the first set, which he lost in the tiebreak and conceded 28 unforced errors.

Dimitrov held the initiative in the opening set, even during the tiebreak, but Sock achieved a mini-break and claimed the first set.

The US player continued with more confidence in the next set, establishing a 5:2 lead and after achieving a break, won the second set.

Dimitrov continued his poor performance in the third set, which he conceded with 6:3 after being 3:0 behind.

Thus, the Bulgarian repeated his last year's performance at the Roland Garros, when he was defeated by the Croatian Ivo Karlovic in a three-set matchin the first round.
