The Islamic State (IS) group has claimed it was behind Sunday's attack on a cartoon event at which gunmen opened fire and were killed by police.

A guard was wounded by the two unidentified assaulters who arrived at an exhibition of cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas (US).

According to tweets by IS members quoted by the British daily Telegraph, the two gunmen were acting in the name of the Sunni extremist group.

The Al-Bayan Radio, which IS launched earlier this year, also reported that "two soldiers of the caliphate" had carried out the attack.
